Keep Chairman Mao's Words in Heart (commonly known as The Sun Shines Everywhere ) is the pivotal episode from the 1965 classic anti-Japanese war film Tunnel Warfare. Composed by Fu Gengchen and originally performed by Deng Yuhua, it stands as one of the most widely sung red classics, revolutionary folk songs, and beloved film golden hits.
Initially, Fu Gengchen drafted a piece titled The Red Sun Rises in the East , modeled after On the Taihang Mountain . However, its style clashed with the character of the peasant protagonist, Gao Chuanbao. He then drew inspiration from folk songs of central Hebei and the Erliu Ban rhythm of Hebei Bangzi opera, refining the work for two months to create a piece that truly mirrored the character's emotions. Using the "sun" as a metaphor for Mao Zedong Thought, the song features a clear three-part structure, sincere lyrics, and a fresh, flowing melody. It expresses the profound reverence of the people in central Hebei for the revolutionary leader and their unwavering faith in the victory of the people's war. To this day, it remains a vital force in patriotic education and cultural heritage, serving as a timeless red memory connecting generations.
