Zhi Wo is an original Chinese-style single exclusively produced by NetEase Cloud Music. It was written by Shen Zhi, composed, arranged and produced by Wang Chao, performed by Guo Feng Tang and Olou, officially released on October 8, 2019, and included in the album of the same name Zhi Wo . Since its release, the song has quickly spread in the Chinese-style music community thanks to its profound cultural heritage and touching melody. It later gained wider public attention as the ending theme of the animation Jian Lai.
Inspired by the classical allusion of "High Mountain and Flowing Water, a Friend Encountered" from the story of Yu Boya and Zhong Ziqi, the lyrics express the loneliness of finding a kindred spirit rare and the longing for someone who truly understands oneself. The arrangement breaks through the boundaries of traditional Chinese-style music: it sets a lonely tone with piano and strings, blends operatic vocal turns with rock bass, and features a penetrating flute solo in the interlude against the rich accompaniment, creating a strong auditory contrast that resonates deeply with modern audiences’ desire for understanding and connection.
