Ci Jiu Men Hui Yi(Ci Jiu Men Memories) is an ancient-style opera-infused song written by Chong Erdian, composed by Yaohu Gongzi and Weizi, and originally performed by Bing You and Jieyou Cao. Released on May 4, 2018, it is inspired by The Mystic Nine short story collection Er Yue Hong Chapter . The song tells the story of the famous opera singer Er Yue Hong at his birthday banquet two years after his wife's death. Amidst the hustle and bustle, he only longs for a bowl of noodle soup his late wife made, conveying the loneliness and regret of "actors facing many sorrows, lingering in old deep love." It expresses yearning for a lost loved one, lamentations on the unpredictability of fate, and the desolation of jianghu grudges.
The song skillfully combines Peking Opera singing with pop music, opening with opera-style vocals to create a rich classical atmosphere. In the chorus, the collision between traditional opera recitation and modern arrangement vividly portrays Er Yue Hong's longing for his deceased wife. This "opera-song" form has not only gained professional recognition but was also selected for CCTV-11's Chinese Opera Songs program, becoming a model for promoting traditional culture.
