Qian Nv You Hun(A Chinese Ghost Story) is the theme song of the classic 1987 film A Chinese Ghost Story starring Leslie Cheung. It was written and composed by James Wong.
In terms of the melody, the song starts with a melodious and ethereal tune, as if instantly drawing back the mysterious and fantastical night curtain of Lanruo Temple. The use of classical instruments such as the guzheng and the dizi creates an ancient and traditional charm, leading the listeners into a world where ghosts and tender feelings are intertwined. The melody of the verse is gentle and lingering, just like the uneasiness and ignorance of the scholar Ning Caichen when he first steps into a dangerous situation.
