Qingyu An · Yuanxi(Green Jade Table · The Lantern Festival) is an outstanding artistic work that blends classical poetry with modern music, officially released on February 8, 2020. Based on the classic ci (a traditional Chinese poetic form) by Xin Qiji, a great poet of the Song Dynasty, this piece was re-composed, arranged, and performed by post-90s original musician Winky Shi (real name Zhao Jingxu), endowing this millennium-old classic with a brand-new auditory experience.
Qingyu An · Yuanxi is one of the most renowned and representative "wanyue" (graceful and restrained style) ci poems by Xin Qiji, created around the 1st year (1174 AD) or 2nd year (1175 AD) of the Chunxi era in the Southern Song Dynasty. Winky Shi preserved all the essence of Xin Qiji’s original ci, while adopting a smooth and natural modern pop musical form for the melody. This approach not only retains the charm of classical poetry but also adds the vitality of modern music, creating a unique atmosphere of "loneliness amid prosperity".
