Jiang Nan Meng(Dream of Jiangnan) is a classic Chinese-style song with lyrics by Wen Jiong and Na Lan, music composed by Zhang Tianfu, and performed by Na Lan. It was released on November 3, 2014 and included in Na Lan’s EP album Chance Encounter . Set against the backdrop of the Jiangnan water towns, the song blends classical imagery with modern melodies, establishing itself as a benchmark work of the neoclassical music style. It has long topped the charts of Chinese-style music and stands as one of the representative pieces themed on Jiangnan sentiments.
In late March 2014, Na Lan, together with lyricist Wen Jiong and composer Zhang Tianfu, went on a field trip to Jiangnan in person. Inspired by the stunning scenery of Jiangnan—such as the flowing streams beneath small bridges and the dark-tiled houses with blue bricks—they finished creating the song after six months of work. Centered on the emotional thread of "waiting and yearning with longing", the song integrates personal emotions into the landscapes of Jiangnan. Through core imagery like "the black-awning boat", "the apricot blossom rain" and "the bluestone alley", it depicts a beautiful picture of misty and rainy Jiangnan as well as a touching and lingering love story.
