My Loulan is a classic work that blends the charm of Western Regions (Xiyu) with modern music. Composed by Daolang, with lyrics by Su Liu and performed by Yun Duo, it was included in Yun Duo’s album Stubborn on May 20, 2013. Set against the backdrop of the ancient Loulan Kingdom, the song weaves a love legend spanning a thousand years through poetic imagery such as "a silver hairpin placed above the sun" and "bathing together in the sandy river". It has been praised by music critics as "the Western Regions civilization revived through music".
Taking "Loulan" as its core imagery, the song drew inspiration from the 2008 "New Songs for Xinjiang" fieldwork project. Daolang and Su Liu visited the ruins of the ancient Loulan city, where they were deeply moved by the remaining fragments of civilization in the desert. Eventually, they recreated this long-buried history through music. The song won the Gold Award in the "Return to the Soul - Chinese Golden Melodies 2013" category at the 2013 Chinese Golden Melody Awards and was selected as one of the "Top 10 Golden Melodies of the Year" on the Chinese Folk Song Chart. The cultural and tourism department of Xinjiang has also incorporated the song into its "Silk Road Culture" themed promotional videos.
