Piao Yang Guo Hai Lai Kan Ni(Love Across the Sea) was written and composed by Li Zongsheng in 1991, and there is a true and sentimental story behind it.
In that year, a Taiwanese girl named Wa Wa (Jin Zhijuan) fell in love with a Beijing poet named A Lu. As a result, she spent half a year saving up a sum of money, bought a plane ticket to Beijing, and crossed the ocean to see him. However, she found that A Lu was already married. A Lu promised that he would get a divorce and then go to find her, but the girl waited in vain for two years without getting any result. By chance, Jin Zhijuan met Li Zongsheng in a restaurant and told him this story. Li Zongsheng wrote this song on a napkin with a pen within five minutes.
Based on Jin Zhijuan's experience, Li Zongsheng wrote deeply touching lyrics such as "为你我用了半年的积蓄，漂洋过海的来看你", "在漫天风沙里，望着你远去，我竟悲伤得不能自已", and "为了你的承诺，我在最绝望的时候，都忍着不哭泣".
When Jin Zhijuan sang this song in the recording studio, she cried several times because it touched her sore spot. After a long period of adjustment, she finally completed the production of this song. After its release, it caused a great sensation and became the most beloved song among lovers. It has been covered many times since then.
