In that year, a Taiwanese girl named Wa Wa (Jin Zhijuan) fell in love with a Beijing poet named A Lu. As a result, she spent half a year saving up a sum of money, bought a plane ticket to Beijing, and crossed the ocean to see him. However, she found that A Lu was already married. A Lu promised that he would get a divorce and then go to find her, but the girl waited in vain for two years without getting any result. By chance, Jin Zhijuan met Li Zongsheng in a restaurant and told him this story. Li Zongsheng wrote this song on a napkin with a pen within five minutes.
