Jin She Kuang Wu(Dance of the Golden Snake) is a classic Chinese orchestral piece adapted and arranged in 1934 by the people’s musician Nie Er, based on the folk tune Dao Ba Ban (Chaozhou music). It is also a required piece for the Grade 3 exam of bamboo flute performance and a commonly used piece for festivals and celebrations. The music is lively, dynamic and inspiring. With its flowing notes and distinct rhythmic changes, it easily draws listeners in and brings a cheerful, festive atmosphere. Performers should grasp the emotion contained in the piece, play with passion, and convey the joy and excitement to the audience, making people feel as if they were in a lively festival scene, such as dragon and lion dances with loud gongs and drums during traditional holidays.
