Duoyin(Stacked Note) is a kind of rapid and forceful air-rushing note. It requires the performer to get ready with all finger-holes open, and through a rapid stream of air combined with fingerings, quickly stack notes that are two to seven degrees higher than the fundamental note (the open-finger-hole middle-pitched
4
or high-pitched4
) onto the fundamental note, thus creating a sound effect similar to noise. In actual performance, playing duoyin requires the performer to have a relatively high level of skills to ensure the accuracy of pitch, rhythm, and dynamics.Generally, duoyin is mostly used in imitative or humorous and witty musical pieces to create special effects similar to bird calls, machine sounds, the sound of horses' hooves, strong labor rhythms, running and jumping, etc.
The above is an etude that combines duoyin, tonguing, and trilling. Duoyin is quite difficult. Fortunately, there aren't many pieces that require the use of duoyin. Therefore, if you like the effect of duoyin, you must strengthen your training. Either don't use it, or you must use it well, because using it poorly will greatly affect the performance effect of the piece.
