Qing Zang Gao Yuan(Qingzang Plateau) is the theme song composed by Zhang Qianyi for the TV drama The Heavenly Road — a work commemorating the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet Highway and depicting the deeds of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in building the road. Although Zhang Qianyi had never set foot in Tibet when creating the song, he drew inspiration by repeatedly listening to works by Tibetan artists such as Tseten Dolma, and finally completed this timeless masterpiece.
This song marked the first time that Tibetan musical elements were deeply integrated with pop singing style. With a vocal range spanning 3 octaves, it broke the convention of the time that pop songs were limited to only 1 octave. In her performance, Li Na skillfully used the Tibetan "swung tune" technique and combined it with a natural, magnificent vocal style. This not only endowed the song with the bleak and desolate charm of the snow-covered plateau but also filled it with the tension of modern music, earning it the reputation of being a "model of folk-pop singing style". Besides the original singer Li Na, a host of Chinese and foreign singers including Han Hong, Tan Weiwei, and Vitas have also performed this song. Their interpretations have once again sparked global yearning for the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, making the song a cultural calling card of Tibet.
