Tou Gong is a well-known Chinese pure music piece in the martial arts style, created by composer Hu Weili. It gained widespread fame as a classic soundtrack for the 1993 film Tai Chi Master . The piece is renowned for its forceful and sharp rhythm as well as its distinctive combination of instruments. With a clear and free-spirited tone, it, together with the rich and powerful timbre of the erhu and the strong rhythms of percussion instruments like drums and gongs, forms an auditory layer of "the integration of hardness and softness".
