You should adopt the correct posture when playing the flute. Otherwise, it will obstruct the smooth flow of your breath and affect the playing effect.
You can play the flute while sitting or standing. When playing while standing, separate your feet naturally in a figure-eight shape. Keep your legs relaxed, but don't bend them. Whether you are playing the flute while standing or sitting, look straight ahead with both eyes, naturally straighten your chest, and don't stick out your lower abdomen. Don't shrug your shoulders. This posture not only facilitates breathing but also helps maintain the normal functioning and health of your lungs.
Relax your fingers to form an arc shape. Avoid keeping the fingers pressing the flute holes stiff, as stiffness will make them lack flexibility. Flutes come in different sizes, so the curvature of your fingers should also change accordingly. When playing a small flute, press the holes with the fingertips; when playing a medium-sized flute, use the finger pads; and when playing a large flute, press between the first and second joints of the fingers. Fingers vary in length, and there's no need to force a uniform position. It should be based on your own situation. When playing a relatively large flute, the index finger of the upper hand can gently support the flute to relax the joints.
