Composer Guan Dazhou takes the pentatonic scale as the foundation. By simulating the sound of horse hooves through the wheel-finger technique of the guzheng and reproducing the clashing of swords with the wheel-sound of the pipa, he constructs an auditory scene of "night rain in the martial world". The lyrics borrow images such as "star river", "lone moon", and "yellow sand" to metaphorically depict Cheng Shaoshang's ups and downs in fate from an orphan girl to a general's wife. The frequent contrast between "laugh" and "sigh" showcases Cheng Shaoshang's dual personality of "appearing nonchalant on the surface but cherishing the world in her heart".
