Trill Practice 1

Trill is an important technique in bamboo flute playing. By rapidly and evenly alternating between the fundamental note and the note above it, it produces a fluctuating effect, making the music more expressive and appealing.
Taking the tube-tone as 5 as an example, for the trill of the middle-pitched 1, after blowing the note 1 on the flute, use the fingers to quickly open and close the second-degree note 2 above the fundamental note. This makes the note 1 and the rapid alternation of 121 appear, forming the trill effect. When it ends, it needs to land on the note 1, that is, the trill of 1 should start and end with 1.
Regarding trills, the following notes need to be specifically explained (taking the tube-tone as 5 as an example):
For both the middle-pitched 3 and the high-pitched 3, rapidly vibrate the sixth hole.
For the middle-pitched 4, first press the first, second, fourth, and fifth holes, and then rapidly vibrate the third hole.
The middle-pitched 5, the high-pitched 5, and the low-pitched 5 are all the same. Press all the holes, and then rapidly vibrate the first hole.
For the high-pitched 4, first press the second, third, fourth, and fifth holes, and then rapidly vibrate the second and third holes.
The high-pitched 6 is a bit special. First, press the second, third, fifth, and sixth holes to blow out the fundamental note. Then, when starting to trill, release the third and fifth holes, vibrate the fifth hole, and finally end by pressing the second, fifth, and sixth holes.
When practicing, pay attention to the light and nimble movements of the fingers, with even strength and a stable frequency. You can start at a slower speed and gradually increase the frequency of the trill. And be sure to follow a metronome to ensure the stability of the rhythm.
