Tian Bian(Horizon) is a classic Mongolian-style song. With lyrics by Jiregen and music composed by Ulan Togoo, it was originally sung by Buren Bayar and released on February 28, 2005, included in an album of the same name. Hailed as a "celestial melody from the grasslands", the song gained popularity across the country for its melodious tune and soulful lyrics, becoming a model of integration between Mongolian music and modern pop.
The inspiration for the song came from lyricist Jiregen’s days as an educated youth: he was separated from his lover by fate while serving in the Inner Mongolia Production and Construction Corps, and decades later, they had a striking reunion at Beijing Airport. That very night in Beijing, he wrote the lyrics to this well-loved song. Horizon retains the distinctive high-pitched, prolonged, and vast qualities of Mongolian pastoral songs, while incorporating modern pop elements to form a unique style. Since its release, it has remained enduringly popular and has been performed by numerous singers such as Jiang Yang Zhuoma and Wulan Tuya, becoming one of the representative works of Mongolian music.
