Bi Shang Guan(On Fresco I Stay) was written by Liu Xiaoliu and composed by Zhou Mingcong. It was created in 2019. Taking the murals of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang as the core imagery, it tells a fantastic story of a traveler who strays into the world of the murals: From the graceful dancing of the flying apsaras and the prosperous life in the prime of the Tang Dynasty to the desolation of the faded murals after thousands of years, it presents a grand narrative of the rise and fall of civilizations.
This song gives a concrete manifestation of elements such as the "flying apsaras", "musicians" and "donors" in the Dunhuang murals, creating an oriental aesthetic artistic conception where the real and the illusory are intertwined. With its narrative that transcends time and space and the integration of diverse arts, it has become one of the representative works in the field of Chinese-style music in recent years.
This sheet music is a fragment of the song On Fresco I Stay , and the original key is
Emajor. It needs to be played with aBflute using the fingering of "all holes covered as2". However, since aBflute is not commonly seen, usually, the key can be transposed up toFmajor, and then it can be played with aCflute using the fingering of "all holes covered as2".
